Dawn for Insomiac

There are people who brave the night to earn a living and live on what they earn. There are people that wander the moonlit sky to find a smoke or a mug, to which they tell all their woes and sighs. Many a people stay awake to find and be found. They have their own stories.

I know of people who find solitude in loneliness. Others hear the tiniest voices in their hearts with loud playslist stuck in their earphones, eternally immersed in music and lyrics. In times when half of the world is sleeping, some people are awake so that they may continue to live.

There are many reasons why people stay awake when they are ought to be sleeping. But to whichever reason people are up to, we can only care less. We have our own stories.

So the beat goes on. So as our monotonous life. Sometimes, we dream of living forever only to find out we can only have a lifetime. Some people stay awake for lust. Some are for love. Some are in between. Permanent or personal. Solitude or sensual. We are all fuelled by the same principle. We are all night voyagers.

It is said that the happiest man on earth would look on the Mirror of Erised and see only his own reflection staring back. I really wish I am back to the boy of five, asleep in my mother's side with all the childish dreams of toffees and toy cars. I wish I am not who I am right now. I wish the night will be over soon so the nocturnals will all be back to the surreal and pathetic world of continous maddening loop of what-to-dos. I wish I could change the world and make time machines but all that I can change is my online profile, my underwear and my hairstyle. I wish I could stop all the madness of the night but all the more, I too was caught by its mysteries and surprises.

My grammar is still bad and this is my darkest hour. I do not know exactly why.

well we can only do so much to change monotony. i think we all get bouts of that. i'm guessing you're in the night shift?

at least you have an avenue to let out these emotions. when all the world turns to shit, we always have our blogs.

ps. moderate your comments.

why do people tend to ask why's?
why do we wanted to go back in our past?...ive also wondered why things happened when we dont have a choice but accept the reality.
however life must go on...
it's your choice to change your life...if you wanted to break the monotony then go on....
life is gift to enjoy...whatever happens to you maybe it's because ther's a reason, maybe you'll learned to appreciate it in the future.

There are only little problems in your grammar. It's just a matter of reviewing the basic. The entry is very good, except for the SUBJUNCTIVE MOOD OF THE VERB. I capitalized the problem areas. When using Subjunctive mood, it is conditional, therefore it is always expressed in past tense.

"I really wish I WERE (never use WAS - like what most north American kids do) back to the boy of five, asleep in my mother's side with all the childish dreams of toffees and toy cars. I wish I WERE someone other than myself right now. I wish the night WOULD be over soon so that the nocturnals (this word is an adjective, therefore should not be expressed in plural. You can use NOCTURNAL CREATURES perhaps?) will all be back to the surreal and pathetic world of continuous maddening loop of what-to-dos. I wish I could change the world and make time machines but SADLY, all that I can change ARE my online profile, my underwear and my hairstyle. I wish I could stop all the madness of the night but all the more, I too was caught by its mysteries and surprises.

The last sentence is what we call a RUN ON (also known as FUSED sentence). In this case, you can divide your sentence into two to make it clearer and to separate the ideas they are trying to express.

Hence:

"I wish I could stop all the madness of the night. Unfortunately, I, too, am caught by its mysteries and surprises.

See? Very minor.

WISH I WERE
WISH I HAD

In the English language, verbs have moods (like human beings). These verbal moods are:

• indicative – A simple statement expressing a FACT.

Therefore: Even if your article is expressed in the past tense, INDICATIVE will be expressed in present tense because we cannot change its factual qualities.

An example of an indicative mood sentence:
• Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world.

(We can never change this fact. It should be expressed in the present tense even if your essay is expressed in the past tense)

• imperative – a command (Jill, pick up the ball !)

• subjunctive – a statement contrary to fact, a wish, or a conditional situation.
(I wish I were St. Peter.)
(I wish I were the president of the Philippines).

Therefore, you can edit the entry and correct the minor errors.

Keep writing, my friend. Your thoughts are awesome.

it's great that you appreciate how difficult the other kind of "night life" is. that will certainly help keep you going.

i love the Harry Potter reference. but it is true; the happiest man on earth will only see himself in that mirror.

thecoolcanadian's comment is very interesting.
