Love on a Wednesday

Two weeks. That was all that left to her according to the doctors. And cancer is consuming her time.

And there is this man. Deeply in love with the woman with the big C. And just in the nick of time, he asked the woman to marry him the next day.

And so they did.

I was there the day they went to the church to exchange vows. The woman wears a simple white dress and on her hand was a bouqet of cheap flowers. There were only six people inside the quiet church, plus the old parish priest whom they asked to marry them real quick. The woman did not walk the aisle, she cannot bear to stand long throughout the 20-minute ceremony. And at the back, there was an oxygen tank ready, just in case.

I come to know that they have been together for years but the woman is afraid that's why she always deny the proposals. But then came the time that she cannot say no anymore to the man who loves her through and through. They were fighting a very good battle. And I really admire them.

in sickness and in health, till death do us part.

I was there uninvited, witnessing something spectacular. That expression of love is more beautiful than New Year's fireworks, more splendid than stargazing. I thought sweet love stories only happen on televisions and I was wrong. That particular wednesday morning proved to me that love knows no boundaries and that once again, heaven touched the earth, leaving me stunned. Mesmerized.

I was about to lose my sanity that very same morning. But yes, universe has its own way of pulling me back.

Paul said once that love conquers all. And sickness nor death are no exemptions.

It was a dream wedding. Just in time.
